11-30-14 Thoughts of the Wise

Back of the Choir

vanity

You find them in the universities,

Or splashed upon the television screen;

They like to show you all their fine degrees

And always come across as so serene.

Some want you to believe that they are wise,

And you might think they have a smarter brain,

But God knows all their theories, flaws and lies;

If they believe they’re wise they’re truly vain.

Intelligentsia think they have smarts,

But they have only mastered arrogance.

The Lord sees through their minds into their hearts;

To Him their pride and egos are affronts.

The wise are only wise when they think not,

For wisdom comes from God – it can’t be taught.

~~~~~~~~~~~
The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise,
that they are vain.
11-29-14 The Day is Here
Back of the Choir
suffering for Jesus
The day is here when Christians suffer much;
They’re taunted, tortured, murdered for their Lord.
They bear the cross as He once bore it such,
Then kneel and lose their head by brutal sword.
They must not be ashamed to claim His name;
They could have lied and stayed alive instead,
But these great martyrs boldly do exclaim
And glorify our God to lose their head.
Don’t be ashamed if you must suffer, too,
The blades and hammers of such men that hate
Because you call Christ Lord and His word true.
Exalt the name of Jesus; don’t abate!
He suffered much and died upon the cross.
Can you not stand for Him whate’er the loss?
~~~~~~~~~~~

Yet if any man suffer as a Christian,

let him not be ashamed;

but let him glorify God on this behalf.

1 Peter 4:16 KJV

11-28-14 Courage Under Fire

Back of the Choir

christian soldier

No weapon used against me shall I fear,

No enemy the strength to break my will,

For Jesus is my shield, He is my spear,

He’s with me in the valley, on the hill.

The Lord is my salvation, He’s my light.

Why be afraid with Jesus by my side?

He gives my spirit power with His might

And brings me victory, for He’s my guide.

He gives me life, so I’ve no fear of death;

I can’t complain; He suffered for my soul.

I’ll live for Him until my dying breath

And die for Him, for He has made me whole.

Though missiles fly around me I am calm,

For Jesus shelters me within His palm.

The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?

the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

11-27-14 Thanksgiving

Back of the Choir

gratitude

There isn’t anything too large or small

That you can’t take up with the Lord in prayer.

Just lift your voice to heaven and then call;

He knows your voice, and He is always there.

Does He not manage all the universe?

Does He not give you life and all you need?

Above all else when you in prayer converse

Give thanks to God, with gratitude concede.

Don’t be afraid to say what’s on your mind;

He knows what’s in your heart and loves you so.

In all your supplications be so kind

To give Him gratitude and let it show.

Thanksgiving day is every day you’re here;

Be grateful in your prayers all through the year.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Be careful (anxious) for nothing;
but in every thing by prayer and supplication
with thanksgiving let your requests be made known
unto God.
11-26-14 A Matter of Life or Death
Back of the Choir
ItsYourChoice-StairwaytoHeavenorStairwaytoHell
You’re born to die; that’s just the innate way,
For you can’t help but sin; it’s everywhere,
And for the sin you work death is your pay
It’s just what you deserve to your despair.
God loves us, so He offered you the means
To live and conquor death beyond the grave;
Sin is disease but He has the vaccines:
His grace through Christ’s blood sacrifice to save.
So Jesus took upon Himself your sins
Then died to take the wages meant for you,
But then He rose again and thus begins,
If you believe in Him you’ll live anew.
This really is a choice of life or death:
Please choose in faith His gift and Spirit’s breath.
~~~~~~~~~~~

For the wages of sin is death;

but the gift of God is eternal life

through Jesus Christ our Lord.

11-25-14 Within the Crowd

Back of the Choir

arrogance

Whenever you begin to praise yourself

Or keep your mind affixed on worldly things,

You put perspective high upon a shelf

And soon forget the truth and what it brings.

The lowly man is humbled by his sin,

And knows without the Savior he is lost.

He bears affliction silently within,

And thinks less of himself whate’er the cost.

You cannot do one thing without God’s grace;

Remember that when you grow arrogant.

Christ’s sacrifice should put you in your place;

Life isn’t your own private treasure hunt.

Don’t count your treasure here among the proud,

Or you will lose your way within the crowd.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly,
than to divide the spoil with the proud.
Proverbs 16:19 KJV
11-24-14 Create in Me
Back of the Choir
heart drop
Forgive me, Lord, the sins I’ve held onto;
Create in me a heart that’s pure and clean;
I’ve lost my way, but You know what do do;
I need Your grace, on only You I lean.
O God, I am not worthy of Your love,
But Jesus said if I believe in Him
I’ve everlasting life with You above,
And I believe without Christ my light’s dim.
Renew my spirit, Lord, please make it right;
On You I wait and pray all through the day;
Your mercy fills my soul and shines so bright,
I thank You for Your Son who shows the way.
Lord, hear my voice, I’m down here on my knees;
God, make me whole, it’s You I long to please.
~~~~~~~~~~~

Create in me a clean heart, O God;

and renew a right spirit within me.

Psalm 51:10 KJV
